The film stars Rashi Khanna, Naga Babu and "Jhanvi" in the lead roles. This movie is produced by Jhanvi's mother Malaika Arora Khan, under her production house Red Chillies Entertainment. The film is based on the concept of terrorism in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.The film was produced by Malaika Arora Khan who is also producing another Telugu movie with her daughter in the lead role under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures which will be directed by Anurag Kashyap, but it got shelved due to unknown reasons. This movie cast and crew will be inaugurated on 12 June 2016 at Hyderabad by Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar. The music for this film was composed by Salim-Suleiman, while the lyrics were written by Kalyan Koduri, Sri Mani and Poovachal Khader. The audio release event was held on 9 June 2016. Initial release report mentioned that premier show of the movie will be presented on 17 June but later the date of premier has been changed to 19 June 2016, which was confirmed by producer Malaika Arora Khan. But the film released on 20 March 2017 by Netflix under International distribution. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audience alike. IndiaGlitz initially gave it 2 out of 5 rating, citing that "There are good actors in this movie but the director has not shown enough interest in making this a good watch". The film received praise for its story line but criticized for its direction and screenplay. Rediff gave the film 2.5 stars out of 5, it said that "Abbayitho Ammayi is a well-written love story about a terrorist as a woman. But director has failed to make it an engaging watch as the storyline seems rather weak at times."
