We all know the importance of family, but what happens when you find your biological parents? What if they are criminals or worse? The story "Family Ties" is told in the perspective of a boy who finds out his parents might be criminals. But rather than run away, he decides to stick it out with them. This is an inspiring book that takes place in present day America and China that should be read by any child who wants to learn about the importance of family ties no matter how different they may seem. Written by Ann Brashares, "Family Ties" should not go unread because people everywhere can relate to this story no matter what their background or socioeconomic status happens to be. Online on the author's website, the first chapter of this book is available at different release dates. No release date has been set for the actual book. The above links are all to sites where free digital versions are available for download. It may or may not have been available as a paid e-book on Amazon or other book selling websites. Be sure to check out this series of audio books by Ann Brashares (a/k/a Sarah Addison Allen). They are like podcasts, but with sped-up audio and effects which makes it perfect for listening to on long drives! She also befriends Virginia Woolf in her writing of her original novel "Beginners". (not to be confused with the 2010 Mike Mills film of the same name, starring Ewan McGregor). And then there's the New York Times bestseller "The Last of August", available for eReader on your phone. Another of her books, "The Love Letter", is also only available in paperback.Ann was interviewed by Modern Girl magazine in June 2006. This is not a book, but an interesting article about Ann Brashares and her work. Ann was a writer for The Vampire Diaries. She writes episodes 21, 22, and 24.On February 18, 2017 Ann Brashares attended the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards as a special guest of I Heart Radio for their first ever Red Carpet livestreaming event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Ann accepted the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series along with The Vampire Diaries cast and crew. This is a work by Ann, writing under the pen name Sarah Addison Allen. Since this was before becoming a published author, I can't add much (if anything) to this other than to add that she currently lives in Georgia and is married with two sons. I highly recommend reading both of these books by Ann Brashares! Especially because she brings the story out of the typical YA genre and it's an amazing story that will stick with you (like me!) and makes you think about what family really means. cfa1e77820
